Taiwan GuoGuang Opera Troupe will premiere at New Peking Opera's, "A Tale of Golden Locks". The breakthrough opera will play at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing on November 21st and 22nd.
The opera has been adapted from Eileen Chang's popular novel of the same name. It differs from the traditional style of Peking Opera by using a stage partition to represent different space times between the innermost being and the actual world. In this opera, film montage is applied to present Eileen Chang's visual imagination.
Dan of qingyi at the Mei School, Wei Haimin, heads the cast's strong line up as the lead actress. Her singing and performance promises to be completely new to the ear and the eye. Taiwan GuoGuang Opera Troupe has spared no effort for its Beijing premiere. The company is renowned for staging new operas and expanding cross-strait communication.
