Director Zhang tells "Amazing Tales" in color

Cinematographer-turned-director Zhang Yimou, who is well known for his special technique of "using colors to tell a story", once again dazzles the audience with extraordinary color hues of the characters.

The director's bold pick of green-tuned attire for the female lead Yan Ni and pink for the male lead Xiao Shenyang well speaks for itself.

Director Zhang stressed in a recent interview, the film with visually contrasting ridiculous frippery and earthy inn location against the magnificent Dan Xia landscape will make an amazing story.

Though still two months ahead before the film hits cinema in mid-December, "Amazing Tales: Three Guns" has sparked wide speculation among the media and audience as it is Zhang's first film since the Oscar-nominated 2006 spectacular "Curse of the Golden Flower".

"Amazing Tales: Three Guns", filmed in northwestern China's Gansu Province, is adapted from Joel and Ethan Coen's 1985 crime thriller "Blood Simple".
