Cast members of all-star epic "The Founding of a Republic" held a premiere ceremony for the film in Hong Kong on September 20.
Starring a number of A-list actors from Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, the flick finished its first week in mainland theaters with more than 124 million yuan, the highest first week earning of all home-made pictures.
As a grand tribute film to the 60th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China, the feature chronicles the significant period of Chinese history from 1945 to 1949. Tsang Yam-Kuen, the chief executive of Hong Kong special administrative region, hosted the premiere.
The film will screen in Hong Kong cinemas on Oct. 1.
