Communications Officer

Position: Title: Communications Officer
Reports to: Communications Manager
Location: To be based in Beijing, China

Main Function:
The Communications Officer will be responsible for media related work, developing and assuring the quality of WWF China’s Chinese-language communications products, and developing and maintaining Chinese language website for WWF China.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement media strategies in close cooperation with the Communications and Programme teams: develop media plan for specific projects/events; develop domestic media contacts and maintain strong media relationship; organize press conferences; write/edit Chinese language press releases, feature stories, etc., for internal and external uses.
  • Edit and/or write Chinese language Communications newsletter, annual report and other publications.
  • Responsible for Chinese website content and quality control.
  • Manage communications projects according to annual strategy.
  • Fulfill other tasks assigned by Communications Manager
  • Qualifications:
  • University degree, preferably in journalism, communications or related field
  • At least 3 years experience as a journalist or in communications / public relations
  • Native Chinese with excellent Chinese journalism writing skills
  • Fluency in spoken English.
  • Good command of English writing skills.
  • Acquaintance with Chinese media landscape and good command of a wide range of communications tools
  • Strategic thinking and strong organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan own work and manage priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, the ability to work in a multicultural environment, to work well in complex teams as well as to act on own initiative
  • A strong interest in nature conservation and sustainable development issues
