Chinese Culture

Home to one of the world's oldest and most complex civilizations, China boasts a history rich in over 5,000 years of artistic, philosophical, and political advancement. With written records dating back 4,000 years, the Chinese are recognized in anthropological texts one of the four great ancient civilizations of the world, together with ancient Egypt, Babylon and India. Most impressive, it is the only ancient civilization that has continued to this very day.

As a country with a vast territory of 9.8 million square kilometers, China's regional differences provide a sense of diversity, and commonalities in language and religion connect a culture distinguished by such universally significant contributions as Confucianism. Credited with shaping much of Chinese thought, Confucianism was the official philosophy throughout most of imperial China's history. Confucius said: "Study the past, if you would divine the future." These immortal words seem to have guided Chinese culture from ancient dynasties to modern day.
For thousands of years, the Culture of China has attracted and moved many people from all over the world, being so unique and one-of-a-kind as well as elegant and inspiring. The Chinese culture contains rare beauty and enchantment with history. It has drawn so much interest that it is integrating with other cultures. Have you ever eaten fried noodles or kung po chicken at a local Chinese restaurant? Or have you ever seen the traditional style of the ch'i-p'ao used for blouses and dresses? You might have even watched Mulan, Disney's new animated film based on a Chinese folk tale. The Chinese Culture has played an important role in world society, and in China itself.
One of the most distinguished art form representing Chinese culture and known to many is the Peking opera. The most popular, influential and typical opera in China, Peking opera has a history of over 200 years. It highlights both singing and dancing, together with martial arts skills and fictitious movements.
